Residence - Rsm Theology

Located on the east side of U of T’s downtown campus and spanning almost 10 acres, our grounds provide a charming neighbourhood for the over 500 students who live in our dorms each year.

Our residence community consists of both first-year and upper-year students, most of whom are enrolled in the Faculty of Arts & Science; however, we also house some students from the professional faculties who apply to be part of our community as well.

Elmsley Hall

Most rooms are double occupancy, making it ideal for first year. All floors are single-gendered. Elmsley is also home to our 24-hour Porter’s Desk, various administrative offices, the campus mailroom, and laundry facilities. Common rooms are equipped with a smart TV, couches, mini-fridge, and microwave.

Queen’s Park Buildings: More, Fisher & Teefy Houses

Built in 1936, the Queen’s Park Buildings were modeled after the architecture of Oxford and Cambridge, creating a picturesque border for our quad. More House (for men) and Fisher House (for women) are mirror images of each other, while Teefy (for women) is above two floors of classrooms and the top floor of Fisher. Most rooms are doubles, which makes them popular for first-year students. The houses offer laundry facilities and common rooms with a smart TV, couches, mini-fridge, and microwave.

Loretto Residence

Loretto is an all-women’s student residence, located on the “upper east side” of the St. Mike’s campus. Featuring single and double rooms, it accommodates first-year and upper-year students. First years are assigned a double room with a shared ensuite washroom (four residents share a washroom). Upper-year residents are assigned a single room and share a common washroom on the floor. Amenities include an independent dining hall, fitness room, music room, study hall, and lounges. Loretto welcomes a small number of female graduate students on the fifth floor.

Preference is given to St. Michael’s College undergraduates who are studying in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Students from professional faculties such as Engineering, Music, and Kinesiology — as well as graduate students — are welcome to apply. Returning students who meet eligibility requirements receive first priority when reassigning rooms for the next academic year.

Historic Houses

Built around 1900, the Victorian homes on Elmsley Place provide a unique and historic living space for first-year and returning students. McCorkell, Sullivan, Gilson, and Maritain houses are mixed-gender, with single-gender washrooms.

The buildings contain a mix of single and double rooms. Due to the unique architecture and design of the Victorian homes, every room in the residence varies in size, shape, and layout. This is part of the charm of these residences: they create a cozy and distinctive environment that many students appreciate for its home-like feel.

Sorbara Hall

Built in 2001, Sorbara was designed to complement the architecture of St. Basil’s, one of the oldest buildings on the U of T campus. Consisting mainly of single rooms, the residence houses primarily upper-year students. The first two floors are all-male, the middle floor is all-gendered, and the top two floors are all-female. Sorbara Hall is air conditioned, and every room has its own sink. Sorbara also has a music room, a modest cardio room, a mini fridge on two floors, and laundry facilities.

Brennan Hall

Brennan Hall is just one floor with 12 rooms above the dining room. It’s an ideal home for graduate and mature upper-year undergraduate students. The floor is mixed-gender with a combination of ensuite rooms and single rooms that share a common washroom.

We take care of you

Safety is ensured with regular security patrols and a porter at the front desk 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A team of residence dons and on-call staff from the Dean of Students office provides additional support and supervision on the residential floors.

Meals

All students in St. Mike’s residences are signed up to an all-you-can-eat self-serve meal plan; there are no cooking facilities in any of the dorms.
Our dining halls in Brennan (“the Canada Room”) and Loretto cater to various dietary needs. They also offer bagged lunches and late dinners.

Trattoria – Brick fired oven pizzas, pasta, and flatbreads
The Grill – Grilled favourites, burgers, jerk chicken, BBQ ribs, and more
